Week 66: The Basel Ausstellung

Image
Hoi zäme! We had another great week! It was just REALLY busy, which is okay. I honestly prefer having too much to do as a missionary, than not having much to do at all. :) I also want to share a cool experience that happened this week. Sister Bréant and I were in Basel for an Ausstellung. Basel is such a beautiful city, but I've never had that much luck finding there. Unfortunately, this past weekend wasn't any different.  Sister Bréant and I had gotten so many rejections. She told me that she was feeling pretty bummed and didn't have a lot of motivation to keep finding. I was feeling that way too, but then I felt like the Holy Ghost reminded me of something. At every Ausstellung, there is always at least one person that needs us. I have seen this happen literally every single time, so I told that to Sister Bréant. Right as I said that, we saw a man walking towards us. I felt like we needed to stop him, and Sister Bréant obviously felt the same because she stopped him.   ...

Week 65: Hello Burgdorf

Image
Hoi zäme! I'm back in Switzerland, and I already love my new area! Burgdorf is exactly how I imagined Switzerland when I first opened my mission call: cute wooden houses, rolling green hills, and lots of cows. Naturally, it was hard to leave Augsburg— it always is so hard to leave an area. I already miss the friends and the members I met there, but I'm so excited to now have the chance to serve in Burgdorf I also love my new comp! Sister Bréant is just the sweetest person ever! She is from France, and she has the cutest little accent. The only problem with my new area is, I'm back to having no clue what people are saying. I got so used to the good ol' hochdeutsch in Germany, that I forgot how difficult it is to understand anything in Swiss German. That's pretty much it for the week! Bis nächstes Mal! Liebe Grüße, Sister Gladwell 1. The Augsburger District 2. Sister Ligon 3-4. Burgdorf 5. Me and Sister Bréant 6. Us at a service project. It was SO hot!! 7. Playing wit...

Week 64: Goodbye Augsburg

Servus alle! We got transfer calls this past week, and it was so nerve-racking because I knew I'd be going into my last area. My last area will be Burgdorf, Switzerland and I'll be with Sister Bréant to finish her training. I've already been to Burgdorf quite a few times because it's right next to Biel, my previous area. I was honestly a little taken aback when we got transfer calls, but the more I think about it, the more I'm excited to go! Last Tuesday was great because I got to see Sister Carter again! She was visiting the mission with her parents, so we went to the Munich Residence and got some food together. It was fun to catch up a bit, but so sad to say goodbye again. We spent the rest of the week finding, meeting with friends, and saying goodbye. As always, it's hard to leave an area. I love these people so much and am sure going to miss them! However, I know that there are some pretty great people in Burgdorf too, and I'll get to see my Biel friends...

Week 63: Thank Goodness For McFlurries

Image
Servus alle! We had a pretty busy week, with a lot of appointments and a bit of street finding! It's getting warmer too, so we've been treating ourselves to a lot more ice cream. We went to Passau for an Ausstellung this week. Passau is already super far from Augsburg as it is. However, due to delays with trains, we spent a total of 9 hours traveling. Luckily we still had stuff to do and filled the time with studies and social media finding. We also met with our friend this week. He speaks very little English and German, so it was a bit tricky teaching him the 1st lesson. However, we taught very simply and used scriptures in his native language. It actually worked out really well, and I feel like the Spirit really helped convey the message. A few other highlights included hitting 15 months on my mission and seeing the Mackays, the senior couple I served with in Singen and Schaffhausen. We were in Munich for an appointment, and the Mackays were at the office getting ready to go ...

Week 62: Frühlingsfest

Image
Hallo zusammen! We had another really great week! It was pretty rainy the whole time, but the weather is slowly getting a bit nicer, and that means that people on the street are getting a bit nicer too. Last Tuesday, we went to Frühlingsfest in Munich. It's basically just a little carnival with lots of good food, games, and rides. I sat next to Sister Morris for most of the rides, and that was hilarious! She is not the biggest fan of rides, so she was screaming the whole time. I don't blame her because some of the rides were surprisingly scary. There was one that took you up in the air and it would swing back and forth, rising a bit higher with each swing. Eventually, it got so high that we were hanging upside-down in the air. By the time we were done, we all felt sick, so we just took it easy for the rest of our p-day.  We also had a tausch with the Munich 1 sisters this week. We unfortunately weren't able to get any appointments with friends or members, so we used the tim...
