Week 61: Honking

Image
Servus alle! So Sister Ligon and I had just about the craziest experience a couple days ago, so this email is going to be more of a story time. Last week, I met a lady on the street who I'll call Sara. I was chatting to her a little bit, and then she mentioned that she needed to move out of her apartment. I told her that we would be happy to help, and we exchanged numbers so we could schedule a time to help her move. Fast forward a few days, we meet up at her apartment and things start to get a little weird. Sara comes up to us with her two dogs and a friend. We introduce ourselves to Sara's friend, and she tells us her name. Sister Ligon and I couldn't understand it no matter how hard we tried. We ask her to repeat her name a couple more times until she informs us that we can just call her Moonshine. In that moment, Sister Ligon and I just looked over at each other in shock and confusion, but we kind of just ignored it and kept going. As we're walking over to Sara'...

Week 60: Mission Conference!

Image
Hallo zusammen! This past week was so good! A highlight was definitely the mission conference we had yesterday! Elder Alliaud and Elder and Sister Rasband were there, and their remarks were so inspiring! I also got to see so many of my friends! It was such a joyful day yesterday! To jump back a little bit, we did a lot of street finding and social media work this past week. We've seen a little bit of success from street finding, but social media finding has gone pretty well. I'm thankful I have Sister Ligon to help me navigate it all because social media finding isn't my strong suit. We had an amazing time with a less-active member that we've been working with. She brought a friend, and we had a really good discussion together! It was led by this member, and it all felt so natural. Nothing beats member-missionary work! Like I mentioned earlier, we had the opportunity to hear from disciples of Jesus Christ! Elder Rasband talked about how valuable our work as missionaries...

Week 59: Frohe Ostern!

Servus alle! We had a bit of a slower week even with transfers going on. A lot of people are taking their Easter break here, so it has been hard to meet up with them. Luckily, we were still able to find stuff to do. We did some finding this week, and actually have seen some pretty good success from that. We also made some little Easter baskets, and delivered them to some less-active members. All in all, it was a good week. Last Tuesday, we went to the botanical gardens here in Augsburg. A lot of the bushes and trees were still bare, but there were still quite a few flowers. The greenhouse also had a lot to see, so I'd say it was definitely worth it. We also had transfers this week, so I said goodbye to Sister Tripp. I'm a little bit sick of goodbyes, so I'm glad that I don't have too many left on my mission haha. It was really exciting meeting Sister Ligon, though! She is awesome, and I already really enjoy working with her. She is the Head Content Creator for our missi...

Week 58: General Conference

Image
Hallo alle! Another good week has gone by! I especially enjoyed General Conference this weekend. It's always nice to hear from prophets and apostles, and I feel like I learned a lot. We made cinnamon rolls too, so that was also really cool. We also got transfer calls this weekend. Sister Tripp will be leaving. I'll be staying and getting Sister Ligon. I don't really know Sister Ligon, but I've heard good things about her. I'm excited! A member suggested it, so we did some door-knocking in Schwabmünchen on Friday. The weather was terrible. It was so windy and rainy, but we pressed on. Then we went to Bahnhof to catch our train, but it was delayed. So there we were—soaked and cold. We waited for an hour before our train came. We got home, changed clothes, and jumped straight into bed. Despite all of this, it was actually pretty fun to me haha! Like I said, General Conference was really good! I especially liked Elder Carl B. Cook's talk. The story about him being a...
