Week 49: Full-fat Milk

Image
Hallo zusammen! Another week down! This week  was an eventful one. We visited a few referrals, had a Tausch, an Ausstellung in Augsburg, and zone conference. Last Tuesday, we visited the  Dachau concentration camp memorial site. I've been wanting to visit this place for a while, so I was glad we had the opportunity to go. It was really depressing, as expected, but I also feel like I learned a lot. I don't really know how to describe  how I felt visiting Dachau. I felt so sad for those victims and their families as I read about their experiences, but I also felt hopeful. As we were there, I felt comforted by the knowledge of our Savior, who was born to make everything right again. He really  loves us. We visited a less-active elderly  woman on Friday. She has stage 4 cancer and asked us to come over, so that she could pass on her wisdom to us before she dies (her words not ours). She ended up giving us a bunch of really unhealthy recipes, and told us the secret t...

Week 48: Snow Days!!!

Image
Hallo zusammen! Sister Tripp and I had a good  week! We had a lot of appointments with members, and I ate some good food. We also were able to meet up with our friends, and things are going pretty well with them. The only downside was that I was sick all week, so I took a lot of DayQuil every day. Luckily,  I'm feeling a lot better now! On Saturday, we went to an Ausstellung  in Ingolstadt and we were outside in the snow for three hours. We survived, and it was actually really successful despite the weather. We had ward conference on Sunday,  and we got a new bishop in Augsburg. I'm looking forward to getting to know him and his family and also getting to work with him. That's the update for the week!  Not a lot happened, but that's how it is sometimes. Bis nächste Woche! Liebe Grüße, Sister Gladwell 1. At the Ausstellung 2. 3. Spa night 4. It snowed!! Naturally, we built a tiny snowman while we were waiting for our bus

Week 47: Hello Augsburg!

Hallo alle! Transfer day actually went pretty smoothly all things considered. Of course, it was hard to say goodbye to everyone and my beloved Biel. Also, my suitcases were LOADED, but somehow Sister Ferrante and I were able to get everything onto our trains without problems.  I arrived in Munich, and I got to see Sister Nielsen!! Her comp had an appointment in Munich, so they waited in Bahnhof until we got there. Even though neither of us could stay very long, it was such a nice surprise to see her! I also met up with Sister Tripp in Munich Bahnhof, and then we headed over to Augsburg together. When we got home, I devoured a giant salad, got unpacked, and headed out to English Cafe. (For English Cafe, we invite a bunch of people and give them the chance to practice English with us. It's a good way to meet new friends and to do a little bit of service.) I got to meet some members of the ward on Sunday, and let me tell you—they're hilarious!! We pulled up to church with a cou...

Week 46: Saying Goodbye

Image
Grüessech Mitenand! We got transfer calls on Saturday, and I will be going to Augsburg, Germany to be comps with Sister Tripp! I'm really excited, but also sad to leave Biel of course. We spent most of this week visiting people that I wanted to say goodbye to before I left, so it was pretty busy (and sad). We got to go to the temple again for p-day. It was nice to go to the temple for one last time. I don't know if I will be back in Switzerland, so I tried to enjoy it. We then went to a natural history museum with a JAE (YSA) in Bern.  Well that's pretty much it! When I write again next week, I'll be in Augsburg! Bis dann! Alles Liebe, Sister Gladwell 1. Unser Tempel Tag 2. It took us like 5 attempts to take this picture, and it still came out blurry 3. Not the museum we went to lol, just another museum I thought looked cool 4. Like I said, we spent a lot of time saying goodbye to members this week. On Saturday, I was also able to say goodbye to one of our friends...

Week 45: Indoors

Hoi Zäme! We didn't really do much this week because poor Sister Ferrante has been sick with a cold the entire time. Luckily she's feeling better now, so my last week in Biel will be a good one. On p-day, we stayed inside so Sister Ferrante could get some rest, and we watched "The Prince of Egypt". It's such a good movie, so it was nice to jam out to all the songs together. The next day, Sister Ferrante had a bit of energy. We went to go help out at a Book of Mormon marathon with the youth in our ward. It was pretty intense! They read the entire Book of Mormon together over the course of 3 days. They stayed overnight at our bishop's house, and just read for 3 days straight. I don't know how they did it haha! On New Year's Eve, the Burgdorf sisters came to help us out. Sister Morris stayed home with Sister Ferrante, and Sister Bergmann came with me so I could get out of the house a bit. We just went to drop off cards to some less-active members. (I had...
