Week 31: Lost in Oberried

Image
Hallo zusammen!! Things picked up quite a bit this week. To be fair, I don't think things could have gotten any slower after last week haha. We got to spend a lot of time with our district this week with an Ausstellung and district council, so that was really fun. Last Tuesday, we went to Brienzersee. Sister Smith and I accidently got off at the wrong stop because we don't have a Swiss SIM card, and we couldn't view our travel plan. We had to call the other Sisters on someone's phone, but we eventually found our way there. We didn't get to spend much time there because of it, but I didn't mind too much. I was just happy to be able to be there with the other Sisters in my zone. On Friday, Sister Smith and I had a lesson with the Schaffhausen Elders. It was with a member in the Schaffhausen branch that Sister Smith and I knew. She is so busy with work and with her children that she hasn't been able to come to church in a while. However, she still has a stro...

Week 30: A Slower Week

Hello zusammen! Hope that you've all had good weeks. Our week was a little funky. Pretty much all of our plans and appointments fell through, so we were running around aimlessly for the week haha.  Last Monday was our Sisters' devotional, so we were in Luzern for that. As always, it was so good to see the sisters in the zone, and to spend p-day together. We went to this really beautiful park in Luzern and ate some bread, so it was really chill. Later in the week, I was on tausch with Sister Gionker in Zürich. Sister Gionker is such an amazing person and missionary! She's from Germany and the only member of the Church in her family. From her experinces with her family, she taught me a lot about waiting on the Lord's timing. Since so many of our appointments fell through, Sister Smith and I visited a lot of less-active members that lived in the tiniest little dorfs out in the middle of nowhere. Most of the towns we went to were straight-up abandoned, so it didn't fe...

Week 29: A New Friend

Image
Hallo zusammen! We have seen quite a few miracles this week with finding friends! We are really working hard, but it's been amazing to watch how the Spirit leads us to the people that God wants us to meet. We have a new friend! He is 88 years old and is the cutest man ever! We met him on the train a few weeks ago. He saw our name tags, and he was really excited. We gave him the address and the time that church started. We said goodbye, and I didn't think much of it because we invite a lot of people to church, but rarely get to see them there. A few days went by, and he came to church! It turns out that he lived in the U.S. for some time, and his neighbors were members of the Church. They were really nice to him and took him under their wings. We are now teaching him, and he is so happy to meet with us! It's so cool to see how others' Christlike love continues to have an impact on him. We went to Mt. Rigi last p-day. It was nice because we got to spend a lot of time jus...

Week 28: Quads of Steel

Hallo Freunde und Familie! Sister Smith and I said goodbye to Sister Terrell this past week. She's still in our zone, but dritt life has unfortunately ended. It's been interesting to work exclusively in Singen, but it's also been nice to not have to move around all the time.  Last Tuesday, we went to the Zürich zoo. I got to pet a chicken, so all is right in the world. Sister Smith and I have been getting to work here in Singen. All of our progressing friends were in Schaffhausen, so we've been doing a lot of inactive and member work this past week. We also have a lot of finding ahead of us, so we are looking forward to that. Last time we did a long block of finding in Singen, I had the craziest Ausstellung of my life! We'll see how it goes haha! We did a lot of traveling with bikes this week. We rode out to this little village in the middle of nowhere, and there were so many hills! My quads were burning after the whole ordeal! The country-side was really prett...
