Week 70: A Cookout!!!

Image
Hoi zäme! With the end of another transfer comes a lot more goodbyes. Sister Bréant and I will be staying together for this next transfer, which we are super excited about. There's still, however, plenty of people leaving, so it's just a little bittersweet. We did a lot of service this week. There were quite a few members who needed help with their gardens, so luckily I've been able to get some gardening in! We also are trying to find some new friends, so we spent a little bit of time on the street. It was honestly a little bit rough. (Swiss people aren't always the most open and friendly to us.) Nonetheless, I'm sure we will find some more friends soon, and when we find "the One", it will be all worth it! That's all for now! Bis später! Liebe Grüße, Sister Gladwell 1. Finding in Burgdorf 2. With our district 3. Doing our weekly planning on the floor. With no AC, you've got to use what you've got 4. We live next to a little creek, so we had a l...

Week 69: The Wie Bitte? Sisters

Hoi zäme! Another week down! We were busy again this week, but that's how it is sometimes. We were able to get our German class at the refugee camp set up. It was pretty successful, and the people there were so kind! I was on tausch this week with Sister Bauman! We had a really nice day together, and we reminisced on our time in Singen and Schaffhausen. We realized that we were no longer the "Wie bitte? Sisters". That was a nickname that we had given ourselves because we were both so young on the mission when we were together. We didn't understand German and we were ALWAYS asking people "Wie bitte?" (Come again?). But now, we don't have to ask that nearly as much. I hope you all have a good week! Bis später! Liebe Grüße, Sister Gladwell 1-2. P-day in Interlaken 3. We walked in on a feminist rally while we were street finding in Bern. Sister Bauman and I joined in just a little bit by chanting things like, "Gott liebt seine Töchter" and "Ev...

Week 68: Strawberry Fields Forever

Hoi zäme! We had a wonderful but also a little bit of a sad week. It was sad because we had our last zone conference with President and Sister Naatjes. They are finishing their mission in a couple weeks, so we said our goodbyes to them. I'm really gonna miss them, but I'm so grateful for the chance I had to serve under them. I also had the chance to do a tausch in Biel with Sister Petrilli this week! I love my Biel people so much, and it was amazing to get to see some of them. We also spent Saturday in Zollikofen to help out with a ward-outreach activity. I was even able to get my face painted! It was a busy, but really good week! I love this work so much!  Liebe Grüße, Sister Gladwell 2. In Biel with Sister Petrilli 3. We visited the Jägers, some of my favorite people from Biel! 5. We did a service project of picking some strawberries for a member 6. Last p-day, we did some alpine slides

Week 67: Busy In Burgdorf

Image
Hoi zäme! We had another really busy week! Our ward mission plan is to meet with all the active families in the ward and invite them to set a missionary-related goal as a family. Burgdorf is a pretty big ward, so we've been busy with that. We've also been working with our friends a lot and even visited a refugee camp in our area. We're going to start working with the refugees a bit more by volunteering to teach German there. It's kind of a big responsibility, so hopefully all goes well! We had the opportunity to go to the temple and do baptisms with a recent convert! He absolutely loved it, and is excited to go back! And that's pretty much it! Bis nächste Woche! Liebe Grüße, Sister Gladwell 1. At the temple with a recent convert 2. P-day in Lauterbrunnen 3. Zone p-day 4. We took some time to cool off in the little river next to our apartment
