Week 40: The Turkey Day 5k

Image
Hoi zäme!! This week was busy!! We had back-to-back appointments for Sister Nielsen's last week here. It was a good week, but also sad as Sister Nielsen is preparing to leave for Innsbruck tomorrow. Last Tuesday was our temple p-day. We spent the day as a zone and had a testimony meeting after our temple session. It was a relaxed day, which was really nice. We visited an elderly lady who lives in a nursing home this week. She is literally so funny, but doesn't even realize it. I'd thought I'd share this quick story haha: When we visit her, we usually watch a short Book of Mormon video with her. We got to the one where Laman tries to get the brass plates from Laban. As we get to the part where Laban accuses Laman of being a robber, she shakes her head and rolls her eyes in disapproval. I don't know why we found this so funny, but Sister Nielsen and I lost it!! She is just this tiny old lady, but she has so much sass in her haha!! We also had our Turkey Day 5k on Tha...

Week 39: The Dritt pt. 2

Image
Hoi zäme!! I got to experience dritt life again this week! Sister Clark went home early due to medical issues, so Sister Tripp joined us in Biel for the week. It was sad to send Sister Clark off, but I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to serve around her. We went to Florida last p-day!! (And by that I mean that we went to a mini golf course in rural Switzerland ) We played some mini golf, and I was very humbled to say the least. Dritt life actually hasn't been too chaotic so far because we've been in Biel the whole time. We've done a lot of the usual work with some street finding and our regular appointments for the week. We had a usual weekly appointment with the Jägers on Thursday. Luckily, no liver noodles this time, just fondue haha! We had the opportunity to go with the youth on a temple trip this week. I love getting to spend time with the youth in Biel because they are just the best! We also had an earlier Thanksgiving dinner with some members this week! The...

Week 38: Burgdof Tausch

Image
Hoi Zäme!! This week was interesting haha. Some disappointing things happened, but it is what it is . Our two most progressing friends dropped us this week, so Sister Nielsen and I have been doing a lot of finding. We're pressing forward though because we feel like a miracle is just around the corner. I also tried liver noodles at a member appointment this week , but I had cheesecake too, so it balances out. We spent another p-day in Bern last week. We went to the temple in the morning, and then went into town. All the shops are getting ready for Christmas , so it's really exciting to see! We also stopped by the Kambly cookie store in Lyss. They have unlimited free samples there, so I ate way too much haha! We had a tausch with Burgdorf, so I was there with Sister Clark. We had a meal appointment with a lady that Sister Clark refers to as the "matriarch of the Burgdorf ward". She has 8 sons, and I believe 7 of them still live in Burgdorf with their families. They...

Week 37: The Tongue

Image
Hoi zäme!! It was a big week for us! First of all, I ate tongue this week. Yep. I was surprised too. We had a member appointment, and the dad brought out a plate of sliced tongue. He started raving about how good it was, but I was panicking inside haha! I could see the taste buds and everything else on it, but I managed to choke a piece of it down. I'm happy that this family wanted to share something they enjoyed with me. It was just a bit too much for me.   Anyway, I also hit nine months yesterday! It was nice because it landed exactly on zone conference, so I got to see a lot of people who were in my same MTC group! Zone conference itself was really good too! Sister Naatjes talked about the monsters we face in life, and the importance of filling our lives with light and truth. She also talked about the importance of having good friends to help us face our monsters and being the friend to help others face their own monsters. President talked about the temple and how we can deepen...

Week 36: Halloween

Hoi zäme! Sister Nielsen and I had a week with a lot of ups and downs. So ist das Leben, I guess haha. Our friend asked to stop taking the lessons for now because he has a lot going on in his life right now. If you could please keep him in your prayers, that would be amazing! On the bright side, it's been awesome to see how encouraging and loving the members have been through it all! We went to Oeschinensee again last Tuesday! We all dressed in nice clothes because we wanted to take some pictures and we planned on taking the gondola up. The gondola was closed, so we hiked up in our sweaters and jeans. It was really pretty though haha! The rest of the week was pretty normal with member appointments, meeting with friends and less-actives, and finding. We had a Tausch on Friday with the Basel Sisters, so I got to go to Basel for that! It is such a beautiful city! I was also able to see a member from Singen because her boyfriend lives in Basel! It was such a tender mercy because I ne...
