Week 35: Das Matterhorn

Image
Grüesech mitenand!! Sister Nielsen and I have seen so many miracles this past week! I'm literally shocked all the time at how well things are going with our friends haha! One of our friends has been progressing so quickly! He met the missionaries only a couple of weeks ago, but he is so eager to learn more about the gospel. We have taught him the first lesson, and he already told us that he believes it's true! We are going to teach him the second lesson today, so I'm excited to share the Plan of Salvation with him! On another note haha, I finally got to see the Matterhorn last Tuesday!! We got up early and took a train down to Zermatt. Zermatt itself is so adorable! It's exactly what I picture when I think of a traditional Swiss town. After we walked around Zermatt a bit, we went on a hike in the area. It was so gorgeous with all the fall colors! I was just on cloud nine the entire time! We also were able to go to church with a member that hasn't been in four ye...

Week 34: Hello Biel!!!

Image
Hoi zusammen! It has been such a wonderful week! I already love Biel so much (even with the French). I miss the sweet people in Singen, but meeting the Biel ward on Sunday helped a lot. Last Tuesday was another relaxed p-day. I still had to pack everything, so I spent the day doing that and cleaning the apartment. We had dinner with a member family in Singen. It was really sad to say goodbye because I love that little family so much. Transfers were on Wednesday, so Sister Smith and I lugged my suitcases down the stairs of our apartment building. The Mackays helped us load them up into their car and drove us to Bahnhof. We left for Zürich where Sister Smith and I said our goodbyes and I met up with Sister Nielsen. We went back to the Biel apartment and got settled. Sister Nielsen and I spent the rest of the week meeting with friends, members, and less-active members. We have friends here that are really progressing and excited about the gospel, so we've been staying busy. Through it...

Week 33: Goodbye Singen

Image
Hallo zusammen! We got transfer calls on Saturday. I will be joining Sister Nielsen in Biel, Switzerland! I am super excited because Sister Nielsen and I were in the MTC together, and she is just so amazing! Last Tuesday was our temple p-day. We did an endowment session, got some döner for lunch, and did baptisms. It was so wonderful as usual, and I'm excited that my next area is only 30 minutes from the temple. We did quite a bit of finding this week, and found a lot of potential friends. Right now, we don't have a lot of luck in the friend department, so I'm hoping this will set Singen up for the next transfer.  We also met with a lot of members this week, since Sister Smith and I knew that one of us would be leaving Singen. I just love these people so much. They are such powerful examples of Christlike love and perseverance for me. So many members of this ward have been and are going through such difficult times, but they still trust in the Savior. Their faith and exp...

Week 32: General Conference!!!

Image
Hallo Freunde und Familie! This past week was a little different because we didn't spend as much time proselytizing with interviews and general conference going on, but it was so good! I feel like I definitely learned a lot, and I'm excited to go back and read some of the talks. Tuesday was such a relaxed day. The Schwammedingen Sisters spent the day with members, so Sister Smith and I were on our own. We decided to take it easy. Sister Smith made eclairs, and I took a long nap. Not the most exciting p-day, but I think it was very much needed haha! We had interviews with President Naatjes, and we showed up at the wrong building haha. Luckily President was behind schedule, so we had time to head over to the right building in time for our interviews. It's good to chat with President because he is always very in-touch with the Spirit, so he always knows what to say. I now have no idea what'll happen with transfers next week though because my interview with him made me ...
