Week 17: Outdoors!!
Grüezi mitenand!!
Another week has gone by! Sister Bauman and I decided to focus more on Schaffhausen this week, so we had more appointments with our friends there. We spent a lot of time outside, so I'm getting pretty tan haha!
Last p-day, we travelled to Lauterbrunnen where we went on a very short hike (thankfully for me haha). We walked around the area a bit, saw the river, and I got to see my very first Alpine cow! Lauterbrunnen itself is a little town that sits in a valley of the Swiss Alps. It was such a nice day, and I was so happy to get to spend the day outside in such a beautiful place!
On Wednesday we had our "Member Madness" day. We spent the day visiting and working with members in Schaffhausen. One of the members we visited with was just baptized last year and has been preparing to get her patriachal blessing and to go through the temple. We went to her town and were able to talk a little bit about patriachal blessings. She then took us through some gardens there. I was in heaven haha! Anyway, this member is so so cute and wholesome. She got so excited every time we saw a helicopter and would say "Super Puma" (this was the name of the helicopter) each time. She also would stand next to trees and put her hands on their trunks because she "liked to feel their strength". I know it sounds a little weird, but she seriously is so cute!
We also were able to go on a ward hike on Saturday by the Rhein River. It was a really enjoyable hike, and we were able to have one of our friends join us on it. It was good to be able to talk to her and to get to know her better. We then took a boat back and got to see the Rhein Falls up close!
Even with all these amazing experiences, it has bit a little tiring to adjust to double-covering two areas. Something that has helped me a lot is something from a church video that I saw. The video is called "Starting Today", and in it, it says, "His love can renew us". I have seen this to be especially true this week. When I feel tired and have a lot going on, I think of these words. I remember that the Atonement, an act of Christ's perfect love for us, can give me strength and renewal, and I know that we all can access this power in our lives.
Bis nächste Woche,
Sister Gladwell :)
