Week 7: The Apple Drink Incident
Hallo Friends and Family!
This week was quite interesting.
Last P-day we went to the bakery that I wanted to try! I just got a brioche bun for like 2€, and it was delicious! The bakery was in a little basement, and the baker was wearing Lederhosen. It was really interesting to see!
We then hiked up a mountain to the Hohensalzburg Fortress. It was a very difficult climb, but it was worth it! We passed through a beautiful cemetery on the way up and had a beautiful view of the city when we got to the top.
This week, we had a meal appointment with a family of members. They made us a very traditional German meal, and it was delicious! We had a yummy salad, sauerkraut, vegetables, and some German noodles. They then took us to the chapel where Silent Night was written! It was this tiny little chapel and not what I expected. However, I was so glad that I got to see it!
On Friday, we had a meal appointment with the Salzburg Elders and a member, but some of the people there weren't members. On the table, there was what looked like a carbonated apple drink, kind of like sparkling apple cider. Thinking nothing of it, I helped myself to some of it. I ended up drinking a whole glass when one of the Elders told me that it had alcohol in it. He then told me that I would start feeling it later. I couldn't read the German on the bottle, so I believed him (big mistake). I started freaking out and worrying that I was going to start feeling drunk. I was so stressed that I couldn't really think straight, and I thought this was because of the alcohol. I told the Elders, "Maybe I'm just imagining it, but I think that I can feel it". Well, the Elders thought this was hilarious. The reason: it turns out that there was, in fact, no alcohol in the drink whatsoever. They were having a field day over this and now like to joke that I'm an alcoholic. Now I'm never going to believe anything that the Elders tell me.
So that's how my week went. Anyway, I love you all lots!!
