Week 1: Arriving At The MTC

Hello Friends and Family!

I'm writing this after spending two days in the England MTC. When I arrived in England with Sister Rose, I wasn't too jet-lagged because we were able to sleep a little bit on the plane. I was very excited to meet up with my companion Sister Swenson and meet the rest of my district. The first day in the MTC felt super long. When we arrived on Wednesday, we ate lunch, got unpacked, and received a tour of the area. We then ate dinner and met with the MTC President and his wife and did some activities together. After that, I went to bed and was able to adjust to the time difference quickly.

We started German class with my district on Thursday evening. The classes are long, but luckily the Elders in my district keep it interesting. For example, Elder Celik told Elder Dewey that he reminded him of Dudley from Harry Potter because he is "kind of mean and pretty big". Elder Celik also told us that Vladimir Putin makes him swoon, but I don't think he understands the entire meaning of that word because he's still learning English.

Today was P-day, so we went to the town nearby called Chorley. We went to the store and bought some British chocolate and walked through the town for about an hour. We also were able to walk through a beautiful church in which parts of the building dates back to the year 1250. The people there were very nice, and offered us some cake, so it was a very good day.

So far I have really enjoyed being in the MTC, and I look forward to spending more time here!

Große Liebe,

Sister Gladwell

P.S. I've attached pictures
